Reset Cricut EasyPress

A Cricut EasyPress may require a reset when it appears unresponsive to the settings. For example, when you set the temperature or time, it displays the wrong settings, fails to heat properly, or causes other issues.

A reset is a troubleshooting method that restores the normal functionality of the EasyPress machine, allowing it to work properly again. Please note that the Cricut EasyPress machine doesn’t have a dedicated reset button. Hence, you need to power reset it using these steps. 

1. Install the EasyPress heat press on a flat surface.
2. Disconnect its power cord from the main power switch.
3. Let the machine cool down for two minutes, and plug it back into the power outlet.

Turn on the power switch to make the heat press ready to work again.

A reset can sometimes cause issues with the heat press, such as the machine not connecting to the firmware or displaying a blinking orange light. But these problems can be resolved with the following methods.

Problem 1: Blinking Orange Light On Cricut EasyPress 

It’s possible that after a reset, the heat press will blink an orange light, indicating an error. It happens due to these reasons:

• The machine doesn’t reach the required temperature. 
• The temperature setting is not recalibrated. 
• Unstable electricity connection.

Solution 1: Power Cycle the EasyPress

The first thing you can do is to simply turn off and on the heat press using these steps:

1. Disconnect the EasyPress machine from the main power switch.
2. Press the power button on the EasyPress to turn it off.
3. Wait for a few seconds, and then reconnect the machine’s power cord to the main switch. 
4. Again, press the power button on the heat press to turn it on.

Check if this solution fixes your problem. If not, move on to the next solution.

Solution 2: Set a Lower Temperature at First

When you set a high temperature, the machine may overheat and blink an orange light. To fix this issue, you can set the machine at a lower temperature first, and then slowly raise the temperature according to the material. This approach will help the temperature sensor stabilize.

Problem 2: Cricut EasyPress Not Connecting to the Firmware Update

Firmware is a software for the Cricut cutting and heat press machines. It regulates the internal functions of these machines. If an EasyPress doesn’t connect to the firmware update, it doesn’t get ready for work.

These are the potential reasons behind this problem:

• EasyPress is not connected to the computer via USB.
• Outdated Cricut Design Space app.

Solution 1: Check the USB Connection

Check if the USB cable is well connected to the heat press and to the computer. If it’s not securely connected, either replace the cable or use a different USB port on the computer.

Note: Generally, the EasyPress heat press doesn’t connect to a device via USB. It has a micro USB port, which is used only for firmware updates. The other firmware updates are managed with the Cricut Heat app.

Solution 2: Update the Design Space

One of the big reasons behind an EasyPress not connecting to a firmware update is an outdated Design Space. Update this application using the following steps.

1. Open the Design Space app on the computer.
2. Click on the top right corner of the profile icon, and select Settings.
3. Select General to go to the “About Design Space” section, and click Check for Updates.
4. If there is an update available, click the Install update button, and the app will be updated automatically.
