Cricut Joy Xtra Setup

Cricut Joy Xtra can be set up on a Windows or Mac computer via Bluetooth connection. Cricut Design Space is a software that needs to be downloaded and installed to complete the setup process. This software allows users to design projects and send them to the machine for cutting and other functions. Here are the step-by-step instructions on setting up a Cricut Joy Xtra machine. 

Step 1: Turn On the Cricut Joy Xtra 

1. Ensure that you completely unbox the machine, removing all adhesive tapes and packaging materials. 
2. Connect the power cable to the power source, and then turn the switch on. 

Step 2: Download & Install the Cricut Design Space 

Cricut Design Space is a special design software by which users can create, edit, and send their favorite designs to the machine. Then, the machine processes cutting, drawing, writing, etc, whatever you command it to. Here are the steps to download and install it on a system. 

Note: Ensure that you have a strong internet connection. 

Windows

1. Navigate to design.cricut.com on an internet browser. 
2. Type your Cricut machine’s name in the search box, and check the box to accept the Cricut Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. 
3. Click the Download button, and let the app download on your device. 
4. Once the download is complete, go to the Downloads folder and double-click the file. 
5. Click Run to allow the app to make changes on the PC. 
6. Let the installation process complete. 

Mac

1. Open an internet browser and search design.cricut.com. 
2. Type your Cricut Joy Xtra machine name and select the box to accept the Cricut Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. 
3. Click the Download button, and let the file save in the Downloads location (you can choose the location). And then, click Save to let the software download. 
4. Once the download is complete, go to the Downloads folder and double-click the file. 
5. Drag the Design Space icon to the Applications folder to start installation. 
6. Then, the Applications folder will add the Design Space. 
7. Search the Design Space in the folder and double-click on it. 
8. Click the Open option when a window prompts. 

Step 3: Sign In/Create an account 

Once the Design Space is downloaded, you will be prompted to sign in or create an account. If you’re a new user, create an account first, and if you’re an existing user, simply sign in. Here are the steps to do that. 

1. Open the Design Space on the computer. 
2. Click the Create Cricut ID if you’re a beginner. And if you already have an account, use your registered email address and the password to sign in. 
3. To create an account, provide the necessary details, including your full name, email address, and set a strong password. 
4. Finally, use these details to sign in to the Design Space account. 

Note: If you’re an existing user who has forgotten your Cricut password, click the Forgot Password option to set a new password and sign in. 

Step 4: Connect to the Device 

A Cricut Joy Xtra machine needs to be connected to a device to receive instructions and cut designs on the selected material. It can be connected via Bluetooth. It’s a wireless connection to connect a Cricut Joy Xtra to a computer. Here is how to set it up: 

Note: Cricut Joy Xtra doesn’t support a USB connection, unlike other Cricut machines. It only supports Bluetooth connection. 

On Windows 

1. Power on the Cricut Joy Xtra machine and keep it within 10-15 feet of the computer. 
2. Click the Windows icon on the computer’s taskbar at the bottom, and search for Settings (a gear-like icon) and open it. 
3. Select Bluetooth & Devices from the left sidebar. 
4. Click the Add device at the top right corner, and select your Cricut Joy Xtra machine. 
5. If prompted, enter the passcode as “0000” in the given field. 

On Mac 

1. Go to the Apple menu, and select System Settings (System Preferences on older models). 
2. Select the Bluetooth option, and enable it. 
3. Click the Connect button, and select the Cricut Joy Xtra machine from the list of Bluetooth devices.     
4. Enter “0000” or “1234” as the passcode if asked. 

Finally, the Cricut Joy Xtra is ready to use.
