Cricut Explore 4 Setup

To set up the Cricut Explore 4 machine, download and install the Design Space software on your Windows or Mac computer. This software allows you to design anything and send it to the machine for final cutting, drawing, writing, and anything else. Here are the step-by-step instructions to set up a Cricut Explore 4 on a computer.

Step 1: Turn on the Cricut Explore 4

To begin setup, power on the machine first. 

1. Connect the Explore 4’s power cord to the switch.
2. Press and hold the power button on the machine until it turns on.

Note: Ensure the machine is installed on a flat, stable surface and near a power outlet.

Step 2: Download & Install the Cricut Design Space

Downloading and installing the Design Space is the next step in setting up Explore 4. Here are the steps to install this software on your device.

Windows

1. Navigate to design.cricut.com and select Cricut Explore 4 from the listed options.
2. Accept the Cricut Terms of Use and Privacy Policy by checking the box.
3. Click the “Download” button to begin downloading the software.
4. The file will be saved in the Downloads folder. Go to the Downloads folder on your computer, and double-click the downloaded file.
5. An installation window will appear on the screen.

Mac

1. Visit design.cricut.com on an internet browser and choose Explore 4 from the given options.
2. Accept the Cricut Terms of Use and Privacy Policy by checking the box, and hit the Download button.
3. Select a location to save the file. However, it is usually saved under the Downloads folder.
4. Once the download is complete, open the Downloads folder and double-click on the .dmg file.
5. A new window will appear. Drag the Design Space icon to the Applications folder to start the installation.
6. Go to the Applications folder, and double-click on the Design Space.
7. Click Open on the next window.  

Step 3: Sign In/Create an ID

After installing the application on your computer, it will ask you to sign in or create a Cricut ID. If you’re a beginner, create a new ID using the steps below. Otherwise, if you have a previous Cricut account, use its details to sign in.

1. Enter all the information, such as your full name, country, or region.
2. Provide your email address, which will be used as your username, and create a strong password.
3. After creating your account, use these details to sign in to the Cricut account.

Step 4: Connect to a Computer

After creating your Cricut account and signing in, connect the Explore 4 to a computer. You can connect them via a USB or Bluetooth connection.

Method 1: Via USB

It’s a primary method to connect the Explore 4 to a device. Here are the steps involved in it:

1. Connect one end of a USB cable to the computer’s USB port.
2. Connect the other end of the USB cable to the USB port of the Cricut Explore 4.

Note: Ensure that both devices are connected to a power source.

Method 2: Via Bluetooth

It’s a wireless connection between an Explore 4 and a computer. Here are the steps to set it up.

Windows

1. Ensure that the machine is powered on.
2. Press the Windows key on your keyboard and search for “Settings” in the search field.
3. Select Bluetooth & Devices, and select the Add Device option on the right-hand side.
4. Choose your Explore 4 machine from the list of available Bluetooth devices.
5. Enter “0000” if it asks for a passcode.

Mac

1. Open the Apple menu on Mac, and select System Preferences.
2. Select the Bluetooth option, and enable it.
3. Let the Mac computer search for the available Bluetooth devices.
4. Select your Cricut Explore 4 from the list of devices.
5. If the screen asks for a passcode, enter “0000.”
