The Silhouette Mint machine needs the Mint Studio software to operate. It is used to create customized rubber stamps utilizing the thermal printing process. However, sometimes the software doesn’t work properly and shows certain errors, such as “Lever Open,” “media not detected,” and missing library content. Fortunately, all these problems can be fixed with their respective solutions.
Problem 1: Lever Open Error
The Mint Studio may display a “Lever Open” error when the stamp sheet is not in the print position. It’s a common problem that can be resolved with these troubleshooting steps.
Solution: Remove and Insert a New Stamp Sheet
Step 1: Turn Off the Silhouette Mint Machine
The machine should be turned off before following any troubleshooting method. To turn it off, remove its power cable from the power switch on the wall. It’s important for safety.
Step 2: Check the Lever
Open the cover gently at the top, where you will see the stamp sheet inside a tray. Ensure that the lever on the side of the machine (a switch near the stamp sheet tray) is in the PRINT position.
Step 3: Remove the Stamp Sheet
Grab the sheet from the edges and remove it straight from the tray without touching its ink area. Ensure that you don’t bend the sheet.
Step 4: Insert the New Stamp Sheet
If you want to continue working on the Silhouette Mint, insert a new stamp sheet. The Mint Studio will guide you with arrows to insert the sheet correctly.
Step 5: Confirm the Insertion
Once you load the new stamp sheet in the tray, click OK or Sheet Loaded on the software’s screen, and finally click Start to allow the machine to use that sheet to create custom labels.
Problem 2: Missing Library Content
The purchased designs in the Mint Studio stop showing up in the app. This problem can happen when the Mint Studio account has syncing issues. If you have multiple accounts, not using the correct account can also stop the designs from showing up in the software. In this problem, ensure that you use the correct Mint Studio account. Here are the troubleshooting methods in detail.
Method 1: Use the Correct Mint Studio Account
- Open the Mint Studio on the computer.
- Go to the Sign in option at the top to sign in to the correct account you purchased the design from.
Method 2: Recover the Downloaded Designs
- Open the Mint Studio and click on the Silhouette Design Store button.
- Sign in to your Silhouette account in the software.
- Click on your name in the upper right corner and select Account Settings.
- Choose the “Receive all downloaded designs” option.
- Finally, provide your password in the given section and click on Submit.
You’ll observe that the designs are recovered in the Recent Downloads folder in the design library.
Method 3: Sync the Designs to the Silhouette Account
If your designs are not purchased from the Silhouette account and are from other sources, they will be recovered only if they are synced to the Silhouette account. Or else, you have a backup file for the designs.
- Log in to the Mint Studio and click the Sync button in the lower left side of the Library.
- Go to the File in the Mint Studio at the top and select Library.
- Select Import Library and then go to the location where the designs are saved and select them.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
The “Lever Open” error usually occurs due to the incorrect position of the stamp sheet. Plus, if the lever is not in the PRINT position, the Mint Studio will show this error. Therefore, you need to set the sheet in a correct position and enable the PRINT position on the lever.
The Mint Studio won’t show you the purchased design when you’re not using the correct account. Users can have multiple Mint Studio accounts, and using the incorrect one will cause problems. Therefore, confirm if you’re using the same account from which you’ve purchased the designs.
The “media not detected” error displays when the stamp sheet is not placed correctly in the tray. Its shiniest side should be on the top, and it shouldn’t be curled or wrinkled. Plus, check if the lever is in the PRINT position. If not, set it in the correct position.
