A Cricut Venture machine may run into problems if the settings are off or if something goes wrong during use. Common issues include trouble turning on, difficulties with loading or unloading the mat, and errors while cutting materials. We can troubleshoot each of these problems with the right troubleshooting steps.
Problem 1: The Machine Is Not Turning On
Sometimes, when you try powering on the Cricut Venture, it doesn’t turn on. It may happen due to a loose connection of the machine or the power source itself. Here are the steps to fix the problem and turn on the machine once again.
- Check if the machine’s power cable is well connected to the power source.
- Remove the power cable from the power socket and then reconnect it after 1-2 minutes.
- Try changing the power socket if the machine is unable to turn on. Sometimes, power sockets are damaged.
Problem 2: Cutting Mat Not Loading or Unloading
The cutting mat for Cricut Venture may not load or unload properly. It happens when the user doesn’t align the mat correctly to the rollers or doesn’t insert it properly into the machine. Fix this problem using the steps given below:
Solution 1: Insert the Cutting Mat Correctly
Most of the time, users don’t insert the cutting mat correctly into the machine, which leads to difficulty in loading and unloading the machine.
- Place the edge of your cutting mat into the front of the machine. Make sure the sides of the mat line up with the two small plastic guides on each side. These guides keep the mat straight when loading.
- Ensure that the material sits properly on the mat against the guides.
- The cutting mat should touch the rollers at the front of the machine.
- Slightly push the lever on the left side of the machine to engage the pinch rollers.
- Press the Load button to load the cutting mat, and then it will start cutting.
Solution 2: Clean the Rollers
If the cutting mat isn’t loading even when you’re inserting it correctly, the rollers must be dirty. Use the steps below to clean them:
- Take a lint-free cloth and a small quantity of isopropyl alcohol.
- Put the alcohol on the cloth, and avoid directly spraying it on the machine.
- Slowly wipe the feed rollers with this dampened cloth while gently rotating the rollers.
Try loading the mat into the Cricut Venture once again and see the progress.
Note: If none of the methods work for you, the problem may lie in the cutting mat. If it’s too old and frequently used, consider replacing it with a new one or washing it with a gentle detergent.
Problem 3: Blade Not Cutting Properly
The Cricut Venture machine doesn’t cut a material properly when the cutting blades are dull or dirty. Follow these troubleshooting methods to clean them.
Solution 1: Clean the Blades
- The blades are placed at the front of the machine inside the blade housing. Open the latch to unlock the blade housing.
- Slowly lift the blade housing and press the button at the top to release the blade tip.
- Take a ball of aluminium foil and stab the blade into it 10-15 times and check if it’s clean.
- Slightly push the blade from the tip to fix it inside the blade housing.
- Place that blade housing in its place and close the latch.
Try to cut the material now. If the material is still not cutting, you must have selected the incorrect blade type for the material type.
Solution 2: Check the Blade Type
When the blade isn’t according to the material type, it won’t cut the material accurately. Therefore, use these steps to ensure that you use the correct blade type:
- On the Design Space, click the Make It button.
- Then, select the Cricut Venture machine from the top right corner of the Design Space.
- The Design Space will automatically show the compatible blade type.
- Confirm the blade type that Design Space suggested, whether Fine point, Deep point, etc.
If you haven’t selected the right blade type, the material won’t be cut properly. Now, check if the blade is cutting the material.
Problem 4: Material Not Cutting Accurately
It usually happens when the material type isn’t selected correctly on the Design Space. Here are the steps to select the material accurately.
- Click the Make it button after completing the design.
- Select the load type for your material, including card mat, smart material, or a simple cutting mat.
- Hit the Browse All Materials option and search for your specific material.
- Select the right material from the list.
Finally, check if the material is cut accurately. In most cases, the issue resolves when the user corrects their material type.
Cricut Venture Issue
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
If your Cricut Venture machine is not cutting materials correctly, there could be multiple reasons behind it. The biggest reason is that the right material is not set in the Design Space. The second biggest issue is that the blade type isn’t compatible with the material. Check both these things to fix the issue.
If the cutting mat won’t load or unload in your Cricut Venture, ensure that you are inserting it straight, and there is no folding or bending of the mat around the edges. Plus, ensure that the mat sits beneath the rollers and touches the stoppers. If the blade is overused, replace it with a new one or wash it with a gentle soap and scrub.
To prevent your material from tearing, ensure that you use good-quality material. Always select the right material type and the right blade type in the Design Space. Also, confirm that your cutting mat is sticky enough to hold the materials tightly on the surface.
