Cricut Venture Setup

A Cricut Venture machine can be set up on a PC via USB or Bluetooth connection. To begin you must install the Design Space software on the device with which you wish to connect the Venture machine. Without this software, you won’t be able to use a Cricut machine for cutting, drawing, and other additional features. Here are the step-by-step instructions to set up this machine. 

Step 1: Turn On the Cricut Venture 

Connect the power cable of the Cricut Venture to a power socket. Then, press the power button located at the back to enable it. The power button will light up white. 

Step 2: Download & Install the Cricut Design Space 

Cricut Design Space is the official app from Cricut that allows you to create designs and send them to the machine for final cutting. This software is compatible with Windows and Mac computers. 

Note: For mobile devices, Cricut Design Space is available on the Play Store and App Store. 

On Windows 

1. Navigate to design.cricut.com on a browser and type Cricut Venture in the search bar. 
2. Check the box to accept the Cricut Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. 
3. Click the Download button and let it save in a suitable downloads location. 
4. Locate the app’s file in the Downloads folder and double-click on it. 
5. Click Run to allow the application to start installing. 
6. Allow the installation window to run and finish. 

On Mac 

1. Visit design.cricut.com on an internet browser and enter the Cricut Venture in the search box. 
2. Click the box to accept the terms of use and privacy policy for the Design Space. 
3. Click the Download button below the box. 
4. Select a folder to save the file, and click the Save button at the bottom right corner. 
5. Once the download is complete, open the Downloads folder and double-click the downloaded file. 
6. On the new window, drag the Design Space icon into the Applications folder. 
7. Go to the Applications folder, and double-click on the Design Space. 
8. Click Open to launch the application.

Step 3: Sign In/Create a Cricut account

After installation, the Design Space will ask you to sign in or create a Cricut ID. If you are an existing user, sign in, and if you’re using Design Space for the first time, create an account. 

1. To sign in, enter your registered email address as the username and password. 
2. If you have forgotten the Cricut’s password, click “Forgot password” and set a new password. 
3. A verification message will be sent to the email address. Enter the code for verification, and then use the new password to sign in to the Cricut account. 
4. New users can select to create a Cricut ID, fill in all the necessary fields such as full name, email address, and country or region, and set a password. 
5. Once the password is set, sign in to the Cricut account. 

Step 4: Connect to the Computer 

There are two methods to connect a Cricut Venture to a computer: USB and Bluetooth. Here are the steps involved in connecting the two devices. 

Method 1: Via USB

It’s a wired connection which works best for connecting the Cricut machine to a Windows or Mac computer. 

1. Take a USB cable that you got with the Cricut machine, and connect one end to the USB port of the Cricut machine. 
2. Connect the other end of the USB cable to the USB port of the Windows or Mac computer. 

Method 2: Via Bluetooth 

It’s a wireless connection and allows users to cut/draw without the hassle of wires and cables. Here is how to set up a Bluetooth connection between Cricut Venture and a computer.     

On Windows 

1. Check if the Cricut machine is powered on and placed within 10-15 feet of the computer. 
2. Click the Start button at the bottom left of your PC, and then search for Settings. 
3. Select Bluetooth & Devices from the sidebar, and click the Add option at the top right. 
4. Select Bluetooth as a connection type, and let the system scan the Cricut Venture machine. 
5. Select the machine from the device options, and enter “0000” or “1234” as a passcode if asked. 

On Mac 

1. Check if the machine is powered on and within a range of 10-15 feet of the Mac computer. 
2. Head to the Apple menu and select System Preferences from the menu. 
3. Select Bluetooth connection and turn it on. 
4. Select your Cricut Venture machine from the list of devices, and enter the PIN code (0000) if asked. 

The Cricut Venture machine is now connected to your Mac computer via Bluetooth.
