Besides the most common issues like bluetooth connection problem, firmware update failed, and stuck cutting blade, Cricut Maker 3 machine can face some other issues as well from time to time. For example, making grinding noises without red light, Design Space not loading or lagging, and material not sticking to the cutting mat. Fix such issues by following the respective solutions below.

Issue 1: Maker 3 Making Grinding Noises Without Red Light

Sometimes, Cricut Maker 3 makes unusual sounds due to the buildup of dirt and dust within the machine. Fix it by cleaning the machine. 

Solution: Clean the Maker 3 Carriage System

Step 1: Turn Off the Machine 

  1. Press and hold the power button on the machine to turn it off. 
  2. Disconnect the power cord of Maker 3 from the power switch. 

Step 2: Open the Front Cover 

  1. You can simply lift the front cover to open it and check the internal components. 
  2. Check if the tool holder moves left and right smoothly. 
  3. Check for any stuck paper or material leftovers inside the carriage system. 

Step 3: Clean the Carriage 

Use a dry cloth to clean the dirt and debris inside the machine. You can also use a small brush to clean up dirt. Avoid using water or alcohol, as it may damage the internal parts of the machine and lead to corrosion. 

Step 4: Close the Front Cover 

Slightly push the cover to close it with your hands. 

Step 5: Turn On the Machine

  1. Reconnect the machine’s power cable to the power supply. 
  2. Then, press and hold the power button on the Maker 3 to turn it on. 

Issue 2: Design Space Not Loading 

Design Space can face problems with loading on the computer. It can happen due to minor technical problems within the computer. 

Solution: Restart Your Computer and Machine

Restart Your Computer: 

  1. Press the Windows key on the keyboard, and click the power button. 
  2. Click the Restart button on the screen and let the computer reboot. 

Restart Your Machine: 

  1. Press and hold the power button on the Maker 3 to turn it off. 
  2. Disconnect the power cable from the main power switch. 
  3. Wait for 1-2 minutes and reconnect the power cable. 
  4. Press the power button on the Maker 3 machine. 

Issue 3: Design Space Lagging and Freezing

Design Space sometimes lags or freezes while working. It takes pauses frequently. It may happen due to an outdated Design Space version or overusing it for long hours. 

Solution 1: Close and Reopen the Design Space

You can simply close the Design Space by clicking the cross button at the top right corner. Wait for 1-2 minutes and then reopen it. 

Solution 2: Uninstall and Reinstall the Design Space 

Step 1: Uninstall 

  1. Press the Windows and R keys together to open the Run box. 
  2. Type appwiz.cpl to open the Programs and Features window. 
  3. Right-click on the Cricut Design Space from the list of programs, and select Uninstall. 

Step 2: Reinstall 

  1. Visit design.cricut.com and select your Cricut machine. 
  2. Click the agreement box, and click the Download button. 
  3. Let the software download to the Downloads folder on your computer. 
  4. Now, visit the Downloads folder, and locate the software file. 
  5. Click Run to allow it to install on your computer. 
Finally, the Design Space will be downloaded to your computer. 

Issue 4: Material Not Sticking to the Cutting Mat

When a cutting mat gets dirty or loses its stickiness, materials don’t stick properly to it. In this case, you can follow this solution. 

Solution: Wash the Cutting Mat Gently

  1. Use lukewarm water and a mild detergent to wash the mat. 
  2. Gently scrub the mat with your hands. Avoid rubbing it harshly as it may damage the mat. 
  3. Finally, let the mat dry completely.
