Cricut Mug Press Issues

A Cricut Mug Press might show multiple problems, including being unable to heat up, not transferring designs to mugs, or shutting down all of a sudden. Problem 1: Cricut Mug Press Not Heating Up

Mug Press may not heat up sometimes due to power connection issues or firmware update errors. Even if the machine is powered on, it may not heat the mug, and the design is not transferred to the mug. In this situation, you need to follow the troubleshooting methods below.

Solution 1: Run a Power Cycle on the Mug Press

A Mug Press not heating up is a common issue, often occurring due to glitches in the power connection. In this condition, running a power cycle should be the best method.

1. Remove the power cord of the Mug Press from the main power switch.
2. Press and hold the power button to turn off the machine.
3. Reconnect the power cord to the power switch after 30 seconds.
4. Press the power button to turn on the machine.

Check if the Mug Press is heating up. If the issue persists, check another method.

Solution 2: Update the Firmware

If the firmware is not updated, it can stop the Mug Press from getting heated. In this situation, go to the Design Space to update the firmware using these steps.

2. Open the Design Space software on the computer, and sign in to the Cricut account.

4. The Design Space will show if any firmware updates are available.
5. Click the Update option to start updating the firmware.
6. Let the update bar finish.

Problem 2: Mug Design Not Transferring Properly

If the Mug Press is not transferring the designs to the mug properly, it can be due to using incompatible mugs with the machine. It can also happen when the surface of your mug is not clean. Use these steps to fix this problem.

1. Check if the sublimation ink has a ceramic coating inside. Only those mugs are compatible with a Mug Press.
2. Also, check the surface of the mug. It shouldn’t have lint or debris sticking to it. If it has, use cotton and rubbing alcohol to clean it.
3. The mug should sit perfectly in its designated slot.
4. Follow the Cricut guidelines to adjust the temperature and pressure.
