Cricut Mug Press Setup

Cricut Mug Press is a heat press used to create customized mugs with infusible ink. It can only be set up on a Windows or Mac computer via USB, as it doesn’t support a Bluetooth connection. It needs software called Cricut Design Space to set up. The software is used to create, edit, and send designs to a Cricut machine for cutting. Then, the cut project is transferred to a sublimation mug using infusible ink to create a customized mug. 

Step 1: Download & Install Cricut Design Space 

As the Mug Press operates with the Design Space software, it has to be downloaded and installed on a computer using these steps. 

On Windows 

If you’re a Windows user, use the following steps to download and install the software: 

1. Visit design.cricut.com on an internet browser and then select your machine’s name. 
2. Check the box to accept the Cricut Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, and click the Download button. 
3. Once the download is complete, the file will be saved in the Downloads folder. 
4. Go to that folder and double-click the file. 
5. Allow the application to run on the computer, and let the installation process begin and finish. 

On Mac 

If you’re using Mac PC, follow the instructions below to install the Design Space: 

1. Browse design.cricut.com on an internet browser and select your machine’s model from the options field. 
2. Accept the Cricut Terms of Use and Privacy Policy by selecting the box, and click the Download button. 
3. Select a location to save the file. By default, it will be saved under the Downloads folder. 
4. Save the file by clicking the Save button, and then search for the file in the Downloads folder. 
5. A new screen will appear. Now, drag the Design Space icon to the Applications folder. 
6. Double-click the Design Space file in the Applications folder. 
7. After that, the screen will ask you to open the app. Click the Open button. 

Step 2: Sign in to Your Cricut Account

Once the app is installed, sign in to your Cricut account. If you’re a beginner, create a new account, and as an existing user, you can simply log in to your account. 

1. Click the “Create Cricut ID option, and then enter all the details, including your full name, email address, and country or region.
2. Set a strong password for your account, and confirm it by re-entering it. 
3. Use these details to log in to the Cricut account. 

Users can access the Design Space after this step.

Step 3: Connect the Mug Press to the Computer 

Once the Design Space is set up, you’re ready to connect the Mug Press to a computer via USB cord. 

1. Take the USB cable that came with your Mug Press from inside the box. 
2. Connect one end to the computer, and the other to the Mug Press.  

Finally, the devices are connected to each other. 

Step 4: Launch the Design Space 

To finalize the setup, open the Design Space software on your PC, and continue with these steps: 

1. Click the three horizontal lines in the top section and select New Product Setup. 
2. Select Heat Press from the welcome screen, and select Mug Press. 
3. Place the Mug Press on a heat-resistant surface. 
4. Connect the power cord of the Mug Press to a power supply. 

The power light will illuminate in orange, indicating that it is ready to be used now. 

Note: The final setup screen will also instruct you to connect the Mug Press via a USB cable, which you already have from the previous steps. So just ensure that the heat press is placed in a well-ventilated area.
